Head Coach - Melinda Rothwell
2013 is Melinda’s 2nd season at RCS. She has coached both JO and recreational volleyball for the past 7 years. She was also a High School and Club level referee for many years. Having played the sport in High School and college and as an adult in various club and recreational venues, Melinda brings a love for the sport and athletes. Prior to RCS, the spring of 2011, Melinda coached for Sports Academy at the 12 Platinum and 13 gold level as well as running the tryouts and evaluation nights for SIAA and a weekly skills night for throughout their season. Melinda has also served as coordinator for SIAA for 5-6 grade volleyball, coached several All Star teams and has coached softball as well.
Schedule
Practice
We have set aside three weeknights for the youth teams to practice; occasionally will add a fourth night. We plan to mix it up with some solo 12u, solo 13u and some combined, or combine 13s with 14u occasionally, to provide scrimmage opportunities. The nights reserved for these younger teams are Tuesday from 6:00-8:00, Wednesday from 5:30-7:00 and Friday from 5:30-7:00 (again, will vary slightly, but you'll know in advance). These practices will all be at The Barn, and some Saturday practices will also take place on non travel weekends.

Congratulations to the 12u Rookies! After starting out 1 and 1 in pool, they stormed through the next two matches. They beat a VERY strong Set Point team in three and then met the team who had beaten them earlier in the Finals. Race City won in three!!! The Rookies had the Tournament MVP, Cameron McClellan (who served yesterday for over 60 points)!!! and three all-tournament players: McKenna Alberse, Sydney Regan and Julia Hogan. Julia is only a 5th grader!!!!! It was an awesome day!
