The typical travel season (AAU, YBOA, USSSA, USBA) starts in early spring and runs through early summer. Each team sets their own agenda based on such things as school seasons and their competitive goals. Many of our younger teams are already set and participating in winter leagues. Ages are based on the player’s age as of 9/1/2013 and are also specific to grade. The 16u team for example is the 10th grade division and was originally designed to have meant any boy who is up to age 16 by 9/1/2013, but not 17 or older. The different organizations (again, AAU vs YBOA for example) have always had a select number of one-year grade exceptions, but have recently made those exceptions unlimited. If you have any questions about where your son would play, just email us and we can help you understand that.   Here is an example of how the 16u team is now defined: 17 or younger as of 9/1/2013 if in 10th grade or below; any player in 11th grade or higher wanting to play on a 16u team must be 16 or younger as of 9/1/2013.
